Marshall University is set to host its annual Countdown to Commencement event on March 11 and 12, with a virtual option available on March 13. The event aims to provide graduating students with the resources they need for their upcoming commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 10 at Marshall Health Network Arena.

The Countdown to Commencement offers students the chance to engage with various campus administrative offices in one central location. "The purpose of Countdown to Commencement is to assist those participating in commencement with communicating easily with campus administrative offices in a central location," according to the university.

During the event, students can write thank you cards, decorate their caps, and enjoy refreshments. Services available include Alumni Relations, which provides information about post-graduation support, and Graduate Studies, offering details on master's and doctoral programs. Jostens will assist with class rings and graduation announcements, while GradImages will offer cap-and-gown portraits without any sitting fee or purchase obligation.

The Lewis College of Business will inform prospective graduates about its graduate programs. Marshall Online representatives will discuss continuing education options for online program students. Other services include the Marshall University Bookstore for purchasing graduation attire and memorabilia.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance will provide information on student loan repayment processes. The Office of Career Education will offer career planning assistance and help students activate Handshake accounts for job opportunities.

Students can also visit the Office of the Registrar to verify graduation status and obtain necessary cords and tassels. First Ascent, a two-year alumni program, supports graduates seeking employment by helping them find hybrid or remote work opportunities in West Virginia.
