Marshall University will host its first Green and White Day of the 2024-2025 academic year on Saturday, Sept. 28. This event offers prospective students and their families a chance to meet with financial aid, housing, and admissions representatives, tour the campus, and receive tickets to the home football game against Western Michigan University.

Lisa Williamson, director of Orientation, Outreach and Special Events, emphasized the value of these events: “Green and White Days are a way for students and parents to meet with faculty from every department and staff from our support offices, all in one location.”

Prospective students will also experience football gameday with provided tickets. “It’s a great way for students and their families to experience college life and see firsthand the gameday spirit of the Thundering Herd,” Williamson added.

The schedule begins with check-in at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Welcome Session in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse. Here, attendees will hear from the university’s president and other campus leaders. The Academic and Student Services Showcase at the campus rec center follows, allowing guests to meet representatives from various academic programs.

Afterward, attendees can tour residence halls, take a campus tour, and meet with representatives from financial aid, housing, and admissions offices. Lunch will be provided free of charge at an on-campus dining location. Midday activities include engaging with student organizations during the Student Organization Fair on the Memorial Student Center Plaza.

The day concludes with College Experience Sessions where prospective students meet professors and current students within their intended degree programs. Check-out includes receiving Marshall merchandise before heading to the football game.

Phoebe Greco, special events coordinator at Marshall University's Office of Recruitment, noted that these events help reduce stress for incoming students: “Having everything you need in one place for one day can help ease the anxiety of incoming students and get them a head start on their college planning.”

Opportunities for interviews with Office of Recruitment staff as well as current and prospective students will be available throughout the day.
