Taylor Hickman, Director of Events and M Club Director for the Big Green Scholarship Foundation, was honored this month as part of the Generation Next 40 Under 40 Class of 2022. Hickman, 29, was recognized along with 39 other young professionals at the Robert H. Mollohan Research Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia, last Thursday.
"Taylor is so deserving of this recognition," said Christian Spears, Marshall's Director of Athletics. "She cares deeply about what she does, she is extremely talented and she pays attention to every detail. Our staff relies on Taylor and she is an amazing representative for Marshall. I'm truly proud that she is on our team here in Marshall Athletics."
Hickman was hired at Marshall in July of 2018 as the Special Events Coordinator for the Big Green. She manages the logistics and execution of all Big Green events, internal and external. She also assists in donor relations, booster clubs and Big Green chapters.
"Taylor has been a key to our success in the Big Green Scholarship Foundation," said John Sutherland, Associate Athletic Director for Development and Executive Director of the Big Green. "Her ability to plan events that engage both our donors and athletic alumni creates an atmosphere that benefits our student-athletes. We are so proud of her and her future is limitless."
The Class of 2022 honored 40 young professionals from all corners of the state working in different capacities. The honorees were recognized for their leadership and ability to make a difference in business, health care, education and state and local government, retail and development. The young men and women honored will carry on the tradition of showcasing those who make the Mountain State a great place to live, play and work.
"It's an honor to be recognized by the State Journal and my peers for such a prestigious award," Hickman said. "To be in a position to represent the Big Green, Marshall University Athletics, the University and the Huntington community is very special to me and my family."
Only four honorees were selected from Cabell, Putnam and Wayne counties, and all four have ties to Marshall University. Matt James, Assistant Dean of Students at the University; Dr. Andrea Lauffer, a physician with Marshall Health; and Leland Moore, General Manager for Dutch Miller of Barboursville joined Hickman in the Class of 2022.
Previously, Hickman, who is a Huntington native, served as the M Club's Graduate Assistant and Video Intern for Marshall Football.
Hickman graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and a master's degree in Sport Administration.
