The Prevention Empowerment Partnership (PEP) is organizing a Community Lego block competition at the Fairfield Community Center on Wednesday, November 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will feature teams of four to six middle and high school students who will have one hour to complete a project using provided materials. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place to each member of the winning teams.
PEP operates under the Marshall University Center of Excellence within the Marshall University Research Corporation. It is a coalition of community members and organizations that aims to enhance access to prevention services for youth and families in Cabell County and nearby areas. The partnership focuses on empowering young people to drive positive change in their communities and prioritize preventive measures throughout their lives.
Angela Saunders, director of PEP, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event: “This is going to be an amazing community outreach event, and we are excited to provide this fun, interactive activity for middle and high school youth in the Huntington community.”
In addition to the competition, PEP will offer snacks and party favors to participants. Door prizes consisting of Lego or block sets will also be raffled during the event. Those interested in participating can register by contacting Tasha Hall at hall283@marshall.edu or through PEP’s Facebook page at PEPWV.
