Marshall University has announced a partnership with Kanawha County Schools aimed at simplifying the college admission process for high school seniors. The initiative coincides with the statewide College Application and Exploration Week, offering automatic acceptance to any Kanawha County senior graduating in 2025 who maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher. This program removes the need for a traditional application, easing the transition to higher education.

"Marshall University is thrilled to partner with Kanawha County Schools on this direct admission policy," stated Brad D. Smith, president of Marshall University. "By streamlining the path from high school to college, we aim to empower students to pursue their goals with fewer barriers and more confidence. This initiative reflects our belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed and thrive in a supportive learning environment."

Dr. Tom Williams, Superintendent of Kanawha County Schools, expressed hope that the program would contribute to achieving a 60% college-going rate within the district.

"This innovative partnership with Marshall University will remove stress from the admissions process and will encourage more Kanawha County students to consider a college degree," said Williams.

Seniors meeting the GPA requirement can consult their school counselors about enrolling at Marshall for Fall 2025. After obtaining parental permission, schools will forward necessary academic and contact information to Marshall University.

Eligible students will be notified through official letters, ensuring clear communication regarding their acceptance status at Marshall University.
