The Cabell County Sheriff’s Department and Huntington Police Department, in collaboration with Prevention Empowerment Partnership (PEP), a Marshall University initiative, are set to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., across four locations in Cabell County.
Residents can bring unwanted or expired prescription medications to Drug Emporium at 3 Mall Rd., Barboursville; Cabell County QRT at 1133 20th St., Huntington; Cabell County EMS Station 6 at 1766 Washington Ave., Huntington; and the Huntington Police Department at 675 10th St., Huntington.
This national initiative has been running for over ten years, providing a safe method for individuals to dispose of medications they no longer need. The effort aims to prevent drug misuse and reduce environmental contamination.
"PEP and the Cabell County Drug Take-back Teams encourage residents to take this opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of medications," according to event organizers. Substance use prevention resources will be available at the event sites.
