Marshall University's School of Music is collaborating with the Huntington Symphony Orchestra to present Mendelssohn’s "Elijah." The performance will feature Young-Kwang Yoo, a renowned opera star from New York City and Seoul, South Korea. The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington.
Young-Kwang Yoo, a baritone, will perform alongside Marshall faculty members Dr. David Castleberry, Dr. Carline Waugh, and Dr. Alexander Lee. Student musicians from the School of Music will also participate in the concert.
Dr. Alexander Lee stated, “We invite you to join us for a performance of the masterwork ‘Elijah,’ featuring the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, renowned guest artists, and the Marshall University Chamber Choir.” He added that it promises to be "a spectacular evening celebrating the power of voice and choral music."
Tickets are priced at $24 for the general public and are available at half price for Marshall students with a student ID. They can be purchased at the door or online at www.huntingtonsymphony.org.
The concert receives funding from the Joan C. Edwards Distinguished Professors in the Arts Endowment and support from Marshall’s College of Arts and Media.
