"After a national search, we know we have found an absolute difference-maker for our Assistant AD of Equipment Operations," Spears said. "Cedric will bring a big-time set of experiences in both football and basketball from Duke. He is detailed-oriented, tremendously bright and maintains great relationships with our equipment providers.

"His work ethic and can-do attitude will bring us immediate results and we are excited for him to join our senior leadership team."

"I look forward to continuing that tradition by ensuring the team is equipped in excellence on and off the field. Coach Huff, Mr. Spears and the entire staff have been extremely supportive and have prioritized making sure I am set up to succeed.

"Thank you to Duke for over a decade of experience and giving me the chance to grow and cultivate my skills in a variety of sports, all in preparation to excel here at Marshall. I'm ready to hit the ground running."

At Duke, Prowell went to the men's basketball Final Four in 2022, and the Elite 8 in 2018, 2019 and 2022. "Cedric is a home run hire for Marshall Athletics and is going to help elevate our football program," said Charles Huff, the Thundering Herd's head football coach. "He has a strong pedigree and has been at major schools with big-time accomplishments. His energy and personality are the perfect fit for our program, and we are excited about what he is going to bring to the table."

Prowell is a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Jasmine, have two children: Jackson (son) and Emerson (daughter).
