Marshall University is set to host its annual Marshall Day at the Capitol on March 4, 2025. The event will highlight the university's advancements in areas such as aviation, health care, entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, energy, and cybersecurity. It will also showcase collaborations that benefit communities throughout West Virginia.
The day will commence with a breakfast reception at 8:30 a.m. in the lower rotunda of the West Virginia State Capitol. This will be followed by displays and presentations in the upper rotunda, concluding with a group photo at 12:30 p.m.
Matt James, vice president of alumni relations, stated that "Marshall Day at the Capitol gives legislators a look at Marshall’s successes and impact." He emphasized the importance of highlighting not only campus activities but also alumni contributions to the state.
Sara Payne Scarbro, associate vice president of government relations and external affairs, described the event as a significant tradition for Marshall University. "The day allows our university family to highlight the incredible work underway at our institution," she said. She added that both legislative houses are expected to consider a resolution for Marshall Day.
Charlotte Weber, vice president of government relations, praised the collaborative nature of the event. "This is a fantastic collaborative event," Weber said. She acknowledged the efforts of those involved in making an impact on students' lives and contributing to West Virginia's prosperity.
Several university departments are involved in organizing this event including Student Government Association, President’s Office, Provost’s Office, Alumni Affairs among others. Participants are encouraged to use hashtags #MarshallUDay and #MarshallUImpact on social media during the celebration.
