Marshall University's W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SOJMC) is inviting nominations for its 2025 Hall of Fame class. The Hall of Fame, which began in the 1970s, currently honors 85 members.
Chris Dickerson, president of the SOJMC Alumni Advisory Board, emphasized the importance of recognizing alumni achievements: "The SOJMC has alumni doing great work in every form of mass communication as well as other industries, and we want to make sure some of those are properly recognized at their alma mater," he said. He added that graduates take pride in their school and expressed a desire for widespread acknowledgment of their accomplishments.
Dickerson noted that each year brings pleasant surprises regarding alumni achievements: “Each spring when we ask for nominations, we always are pleasantly surprised by the accomplishments our alumni have achieved. So, we are excited to announce the acceptance of nominations for the 2025 inductions.”
Nominations can be submitted online through a designated survey link. Nominees should meet one or both criteria: contributions to journalism and mass communications or significant impact on Marshall University and/or SOJMC through talent, treasure, or activity.
Submissions will be accepted until Friday, March 14. Questions about the Hall of Fame or nomination process can be directed to Chris Dickerson via email at dickerson38@marshall.edu.
