The Marshall University Foundation has introduced the Airbus Helicopters Inc. Rotor-wing Scholarship for students in the Division of Aviation at Marshall University. This scholarship, funded by Airbus Helicopters in the U.S., aims to support underprivileged or financially needy students aspiring to become helicopter pilots.
Airbus Helicopters is recognized as the leading global manufacturer of civilian and military helicopters. As a division of Airbus, it employs about 20,000 people worldwide, with a fleet of nearly 12,000 helicopters operated by over 3,000 customers in 150 countries.
The U.S. division of Airbus Helicopters established its primary facilities in Grand Prairie, Texas, in 1969 and also maintains a production line in Columbus, Mississippi. The company's products dominate the U.S. market for air medical transport, law enforcement, airborne tourism, and corporate and VIP segments.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be enrolled as students in Marshall University's Division of Aviation with demonstrated financial need according to standards set by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Additionally, recipients should be training to become helicopter pilots and willing to collaborate with Airbus on enhancing rotor-wing training curricula and industry standards.
