TEDxMarshallU has announced the speakers for its 7th annual event, titled "Beyond Borders," set to take place at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center on March 8. This student-led and faculty-mentored event is inspired by Marshall University's initiative to build a stronger and more inclusive community.
Evan Green, TEDx speaker turned team curation coordinator, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event: “I’m honored to be working with such an incredible team for this year’s event. As we continue our curation process, we’re working diligently to create the most engaging TEDxMarshallU event we possibly can.”
The lineup includes diverse voices from various fields who will explore the theme of going "Beyond Borders." Speakers include Rafael Alfonso, a senior Yeager Scholar at Marshall University; Jessica Frey, M.D., a neurologist specializing in movement disorders; Dene Grigar, Ph.D., a professor exploring digital culture; Jim Harris, Ed.D., an assistant professor focusing on behavioral health; Rajia Hassib, an author and educator; Glen Midkiff, chief of staff for academic affairs at Marshall University; Hannah Moore, a doctoral student in clinical psychology; and Jonathon Stanley, J.D., a member of Robinson & McElwee PLLC.
Dr. Brian Kinghorn, lead organizer of TEDxMarshallU, shared his excitement about the speakers: “As Marshall University focuses on ‘building a stronger and more inclusive community,’ I’m excited for this year’s speakers to share their unique perspectives about going ‘Beyond Borders’ in service of that endeavor.”
Tickets are priced at $20 for general admission and $5 for university and K-12 students. Children under eight years old are not permitted at the event. Further details can be found on www.tedxmarshallu.com.
Media representatives are invited to cover the event but must adhere to TED guidelines prohibiting outside photography or videotaping during the sessions. Press passes can be requested through Dr. Brian Kinghorn via email or phone.
TEDx events are independently organized gatherings aimed at fostering discussion and connection around ideas worth spreading. The broader TED organization supports these events by providing guidance while allowing each one to maintain its independent spirit.
