This accolade is given to members who have shown exceptional service and unique contributions within the athletic training profession at various levels.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the district for contributions that you’ve made to the profession,” Garrett expressed. He added, “Receiving an award like this, I hope it inspires our students to get involved and know that they can help make positive contributions to our profession. We have a special thing going here at Marshall and I hope we can continue to make a difference in the field of athletic training.”
Additionally, Jennifer Wheeler-Johnson, an assistant professor of Athletic Training at Marshall, will receive the MAATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award. “This award is a tremendous honor, recognizing the efforts dedicated to promoting and advancing the athletic training profession on the state, district and national levels,” Wheeler-Johnson stated. She continued, “I hope this recognition inspires students and professionals alike to strive for excellence and continuously improve the profession at all levels. Advocating for athletic trainers is a lifelong passion, and I sincerely hope it serves as an example for all within our field.”
