Marshall University has announced the launch of its Top Scholars Program, aimed at recruiting and supporting exceptional students. This program combines the application and selection process for all named scholarships in the Honors College, including the Society of Yeager Scholars, Hedrick Scholars, and Hodges Scholars.
“We couldn’t be more proud to launch the Top Scholars Program at Marshall University – an initiative that reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting academic achievement,” said President Brad D. Smith. “This new program will streamline the scholarship process for our Honors College and provide unparalleled opportunities for the next generation of leaders, scholars, and innovators.”
The program allows incoming students to apply for all named scholarships in the Honors College through a single application and selection weekend. Brian Hoey, dean of the Honors College, shared his enthusiasm for this initiative.
“I am incredibly excited as we launch Marshall University’s Top Scholars Program, which brings together the prestigious Society of Yeager Scholars, the Hedrick and Hodges Scholars, along with other scholarship opportunities in the Honors College and in partnership with other colleges under one extraordinary initiative aimed at recruiting the most exceptional students,” Hoey said. “This program not only unites our most distinguished scholarships but also brings all of our Top Scholars at Marshall under a shared commitment to intellectual curiosity, leadership, and ethical action—core values that have long defined honors education at Marshall. We are eager to witness the transformative experiences this program will create as these outstanding students reach their highest potential at Marshall University.”
To qualify for the program, students must have a minimum 26 ACT or 1230 SAT score and a 3.5 unweighted GPA. They must also accept their invitation to join the Honors College, apply to Marshall University, and demonstrate exceptional academic ability, leadership potential, and community involvement.
The application period opens on Oct. 1 and closes on Dec. 15. The Top Scholar Selection Weekend will take place on March 7-9, 2025, on Marshall University's Huntington campus.
Prospective students are encouraged to apply for the Top Scholars Program to join a tradition of excellence and innovation. More information about the program can be found at www.marshall.edu/topscholar.
