Preparation for paving work in Huntington will begin in the coming days. The upcoming round of paving, which Mayor Steve Williams proposed and Huntington City Council unanimously approved earlier this year, includes 17 individual paving projects totaling 3.2 miles at a cost of $450,261. All intersections within the scope of this paving work will also have curb cuts installed to accommodate those with disabilities.

The City of Huntington has paved 75.4 miles of roads totaling $19,188,672 since 2014. These paving projects represent paving that could not be completed in fall 2023 due to weather conditions. More paving will occur later this calendar year.

Moving forward, streets will be paved based on a data-informed approach. In December 2023, GPS sensors and camera systems were mounted onto a select number of fleet vehicles in the City’s Public Works Department. This equipment collects data—26,000 data points per second—and images that will allow city officials to make paving decisions based on roadway conditions.

Additionally, in May of last year, the City entered into a contract with Pavement Technologies of Westlake, Ohio, to apply an asphalt rejuvenating agent to many roadways that would extend their life cycle before they need repaving again. This work will begin with the paving programs this year.

The following is the list of roads that will be paved with this round of paving:

- City Council District 1

- City Council District 2

- City Council District 3

- City Council District 4

- City Council District 5

- City Council District 6

- City Council District 7

- City Council District 8

- City Council District 9
