The Mountain Health Network (MHN) Balance Center is now accepting referrals for patients experiencing issues with dizziness and balance/mobility. The Balance Center is located inside St. Mary’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, 2841 Fifth Ave., in Huntington.

With more than 30 years of combined experience, the highly-trained staff at the MHN Balance Center can help identify the cause of a patient’s dizziness or balance issue and devise a personalize treatment plan to get the patient back to regular activities.

“It’s extremely important to accurately identify and treat a balance problem,” said Phil Simpson, MS, OTR/L, a registered, licensed occupational therapist with the MHN Balance Center. “If the issue goes untreated, it can lead to other problems, including fractures and concussions from falls. Plus, dizziness can cause nausea, which may make someone not want to move. That can lead to quitting regular activities and being much less active.”

The MHN Balance Center was created when the balance centers at Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center were combined. The new location offers patients the latest equipment in a larger space, easier access and parking and more therapists with specialized training in balance issues.

A referral by a health care provider is required to make an appointment. For more information, call St. Mary’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services at 304.526.1333.
