Huntington residents who have signed up for Rumpke’s curbside recycling program should be watching for an email very soon regarding collection days. 

Recycling will be picked up once every two weeks on Fridays. The first official collection day will be Friday, Oct. 7, for half of Rumpke’s customer base in Huntington. The remaining half will have their recycling picked up Friday, Oct. 14. The service will rotate every Friday from that point. The email that subscribers will receive will inform them whether their recycling collection will start on Oct. 7 or 14.

If a customer did not provide an email address to Rumpke when they signed up, this information will be mailed to their house.

Here is more information regarding the service:

PLACEMENT OF CONTAINERS: Customers are asked to place their recycling containers where they normally place their household garbage for collection. If an alternate location is required at your household, Rumpke will contact you.

SERVICE GUIDELINES: Material must be placed loose in the container (no bags) and all recycling material must be inside of the cart. Rumpke will not collect any recycling material stacked outside of the cart. Containers that are contaminated with trash will not be collected. If this occurs, the driver will place a sticker on the cart and leave the contents.

SIGNING UP: if you have not signed up for this voluntary service yet, please call 1-800-828-8171, Extension 8755, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Rumpke requires an initial payment of $60 for the first six months of service, plus a delivery fee of $10 if you sign up before Oct. 1. If you sign up after Oct. 1, the delivery fee will be $20.

PAYMENTS: Rumpke accepts payments by calling 1-800-828-8171, Extension 8755. You also can pay online. At rumpkepay.com, you can set auto payments and review your account instantly. You will need your account number and zip code.

RECYCLING CREDIT: Those who sign up for this service will receive a $5 monthly credit on their City of Huntington refuse fee bill. The City’s Finance Department has worked with Rumpke to ensure this credit is automatically deducted from customers’ refuse fee bills. As a result, Rumpke recycling customers will see their quarterly refuse fee bill decrease from $60 per quarter to $45 per quarter.
