Marshall University's School of Music is set to host a faculty recital titled "Jazz Connections." The event will feature performances by Dr. Michael Stroeher on trombone and Dr. Johan Botes on piano. Scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, the recital will take place in the Jomie Jazz Forum, which is adjacent to the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center.

The program includes four pieces that draw inspiration from various jazz styles, ranging from the swing era to modern fusion.

“This music has been a lot off to work on, and I think it will be just as much fun to listen to,” said Stroeher, who serves as a professor of low brass at Marshall University and directs the Brass Band of the Tri-State.

The concert is free and open to everyone interested in attending.
