The following is a press release from the West Virginia Division of Highways:
The northbound and southbound slow lanes of the Robert C. Byrd/6th Street Bridge in Huntington will close beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, to install containment tarping for the Robert C. Byrd Bridge Clean and Paint Project.
Contractors will begin tarping at 7 a.m. Saturday, March 4th, 2023. When the containment is complete, there will be 14 feet 6 inches of overhead clearance for traffic on the bridge. Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Huntington will have a 14 feet 6 inch clearance, and there will be 10 feet of clearance on 2nd Avenue in Chesapeake.
Drivers should expect delays, adjust their commuting schedules and avoid the area if possible.
Please use caution when traveling through the area due to flaggers, equipment and workers.
