Marshall University announced on Mar. 27 that its student-run agency, Collective 37, will host a free networking event sponsored by Jurna on April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place in the Encova Auditorium at the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation.

The gathering aims to provide students and community members with insights into building successful careers through education, relationships, and intentional choices. The event is titled “Beyond the Degree: Making the Most of Your Future.”

George Sauter, CEO of Jurna and former global chief investment officer at Vanguard, will deliver the keynote address. A panel discussion featuring Marshall graduates Darrin Bird, Kathy Cosco, and Sean Hornbuckle will follow his remarks. Bird brings experience in engineering and manufacturing as plant director at HBE for Special Metals; Cosco serves as vice president of government and external affairs for Marshall Health Network; Hornbuckle is a financial advisor with Edward Jones as well as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Sauter said, “For students, their education is a great foundation for the rest of their lives, but two people with the same education have different life experiences. I’m excited to help students understand the differentiating factors–to think like an investor in their future. Emphasizing skills like saving consistently, building real relationships, and making intentional career choices can set them up for success.”

The panel will be moderated by Marshall Student Body President Connor Waller along with Mackenzie Morley, founding partner of Sunday and Company.
