Marshall University’s School of Pharmacy is collaborating with Walgreens and the Ronald McDonald House to organize the first Dose of Color 5K. The event will take place on Friday, September 26, starting at 6 p.m. at the Ritter Park shelter. All proceeds from the race will go to support the Ronald McDonald House.

The course for the 5K includes three loops through Ritter Park, beginning and ending at the shelter. Participants will encounter color stations along the route where volunteers throw safe colored powder. Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear white clothing for a more colorful experience, but a color-free path is also available for those who prefer it. Registration costs $25 and includes a T-shirt while supplies last. Drinks and light snacks will be provided at the finish line.

A free half-mile Kids Fun Run will also be held at 5:40 p.m., open to children under 10 years old. This event does not require registration and is untimed. Like the main race, children can expect bursts of color along their route and are encouraged to wear white T-shirts.

According to organizers, “The Dose of Color 5K combines fun, fitness and community spirit while supporting the Ronald McDonald House in Huntington.” The Ronald McDonald House offers lodging, meals, and support for families whose children are receiving medical treatment at local hospitals.

For more information or to register for the event, interested individuals can visit Marshall University’s website.
