The Brass Band of the TriState will present its 30th Anniversary Concert on March 24 in Smith Recital Hall at Marshall University, according to a March 23 announcement. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The concert marks three decades since the band’s founding, with musicians performing selections from their first concert in 1996. The program includes James Curnow’s “Appalachian Mountain Folk Song Suite,” Gustav Holst’s “A Moorside Suite,” and John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Dr. Michael Stroeher, director of the band and professor of low brass at Marshall, said, “The band will be performing in a wide variety of styles, from an old German march to Appalachian folksongs. There will be something for everyone.”
